I have been teaching Art since 1999, including AP Drawing, 2D Design, AP Sculpture, Mixed Media, and Digital Media. My Approach as a Visual Arts Tutor

I have been teaching visual arts since 1999, with extensive experience in Art 1, Art 2, AP Art Drawing, 2D Design, AP Sculpture, Mixed Media, and Photoshop/Digital Media. My approach is student-centered, combining technical mastery with creative exploration.

Teaching Method and Techniques:

I focus on building foundational skills first, such as drawing, composition, and color theory, before advancing to specialized techniques.
I integrate both traditional and digital media, guiding students through watercolor, acrylic, sculpture, mixed media, and digital art platforms like Photoshop and Photopea.
Lessons involve demonstrations, hands-on practice, and one-on-one feedback to help students refine their work.
For AP Art students, I provide step-by-step portfolio guidance, including Sustained Investigations, Selected Works, written reflections, and presentation skills.

Typical Lesson Plan:

Warm-up / Skill Practice – Short exercises to strengthen technique.
Project Introduction – Explanation of objectives, inspiration, or theme.
Guided Work Time – Students create their artwork with individualized feedback.
Reflection and Critique – Review progress, discuss composition, technique, and improvements.
Homework / Follow-up – Encourage sketchbook work or digital practice to build continuity.
