About Madevi

I was born and raised in Mauritius, a country where both English and French are widely spoken and written, giving me a strong bilingual foundation from an early age. After spending 34 years in Mauritius, I moved to Canada in 2013 and built a successful career as a bilingual business analyst in the corporate world. However, my true passion has always been teaching French—a language I have spoken and written fluently for 35 years. While I may not be a traditional school educator, I have hands-on experience teaching both kids and adults, helping them develop confidence in their French-speaking and writing abilities. My love for teaching grew naturally, and with the encouragement of my family and friends, I realized that sharing my knowledge of French is more than just a skill—it’s something I genuinely enjoy. Being a mother has also strengthened my teaching approach, as I understand the patience and encouragement needed to help learners grasp a language that feels natural to me but may be completely new to them. My own children have been my greatest inspiration, reinforcing my ability to guide others in a supportive, engaging, and structured way. Teaching French allows me to step away from the corporate world and immerse myself in something that fills me with pride, passion, and enthusiasm. Whether you are a beginner or looking to refine your skills, I am here to help you learn French with confidence and ease!

About the lesson

Learning French with me means more than just memorizing words—it's about building confidence and truly enjoying the process! French can be a complicated language for kids because of its complex grammar rules, irregular verb conjugations, and gendered nouns. Unlike English, French assigns masculine or feminine genders to all nouns, which can be confusing for beginners. Pronunciation can also be tricky. Believe me, I know what it is because I am myself a mom of 2 boys of 7 years of age and the questions they ask me while I teach them French, give me a very good idea of the complexity of the language, especially for kids born in an English-speaking household. But with 35 years of fluency in both writing and speaking French, I bring deep experience and a natural understanding of the language for kids, teenagers, and adults too. As a mom and someone who works in a French-ruled corporate world, I am confident in my French speaking and writing skills. And I understand the importance of patience, encouragement, and making learning fun, which is exactly what I bring to the table. Whether you're a beginner as a kid/teenager/adult or looking to refine your skills, I create a supportive environment where mistakes are part of the journey and progress is celebrated. Let’s make learning French an exciting and rewarding experience together!
