About Bonnie
I am a French tutor with over 6 years of experience and a Bachelor of Arts in European Languages, where I majored in French philology. My background has given me a strong foundation in both the language and its literary traditions, which I enjoy sharing with students who want to go beyond the basics. I specialize in working with advanced learners who are eager to explore French at a deeper, more academic level. My lessons often focus on literary analysis, translation, and academic French, areas where precision and nuance are essential. I am passionate about French novels, critical essays, and the works of classic authors, and I guide students in approaching them with both linguistic and cultural insight. I also provide targeted support for university students, particularly those writing dissertations or preparing for competitive exams that demand strong analytical and writing skills. What I love most about teaching is helping students see French not just as a language but as a doorway into thought, expression, and culture. My teaching style combines structure, depth, and encouragement, ensuring learners feel challenged yet supported. By blending careful study with discussion and practice, I help students build confidence in their academic and intellectual use of French. Together, we can explore the depth and elegance of French language and literature while unlocking new ways to express ideas and engage with the world.

My teaching approach is designed to make French both practical and enjoyable. I mix structured lessons with interactive methods so students can connect quickly with the language. Role-playing real-life situations is one of my favorite tools, because it helps learners build confidence in speaking and responding naturally. I also include activities like sentence-building games and guided conversations to make learning active, not passive.
I pay close attention to self-expression, encouraging students to use French to share their own ideas and interests. Along the way, I teach practical grammar shortcuts that make speaking and writing smoother without overwhelming rules. For those aiming at higher academic goals, I guide them through advanced reading, analysis, and structured writing. For others learning French for daily use, I focus on communication skills, speed, and response timing.
My lessons are flexible to support both learners who need step-by-step guidance and those who thrive on creative challenges. I use tools like vocabulary apps, audio practice, and short quizzes to track progress. Most of all, I make sure lessons feel engaging, clear, and encouraging. With this approach, students not only learn French but also enjoy the process of discovering a new way to connect with people and ideas.
