About Yoko
Hi, I'm Yoko. I'm originally from Japan. I've been teaching Japanese for 10 years. In 2017, I moved to Australia. Before that, I lived in South Korea to teach Japanese for Korean students at a language institute. I love Japanese food and traveling. Even after I moved to Australia, I go back to Japan once or twice a year. This year in 2025, I traveled around Shikoku, which is the smallest of the four main islands of Japan. I love Udon (Japanese noodle), which is one of Shikoku Kagawa's specialties. Since I like taking trains when I travel around Japan, I like taking trains. I grew up in Hyogo, which is next to Osaka. So I usually speak in Kansai dialect among family and friends, but I also speak in normal dialect, too. So no worries!

My lessons usually run for 1 hour, but you're welcome to book double lessons if you need extra support. I have a handmade curriculum which involves scenarios, vocabulary, grammar, and conversation practice. I obtained a Japanese teaching qualification in Japan in 2016, and since then I've taught at a language school in South Korea as well as freelance lessons for almost 10 years in Japan, South Korea, and Australia. My lessons are suitable for beginners and advanced learners, but unfortunately, I only offer lessons to adults. I'm not able to teach children at this time.
