About Haruka

With over six years of experience teaching Japanese to students of all ages and levels, I'm passionate about helping you achieve your language goals. I understand that learning a new language can be challenging. Having previously studied English, Russian, and Estonian, I'm well aware of the dedication it requires. I'm committed to creating a supportive and encouraging learning environment where you can thrive! I believe in making the learning process enjoyable and effective, and I'm here to guide you every step of the way.

About the lesson

I passed the Japanese Language Teaching Competency Test in 2018 and have since enjoyed a rewarding career as a teacher at a leading language school in Sydney.
I also offer personalized private tutoring both online and in-person.

My students have diverse learning objectives, including preparing for travel to Japan, receiving support for their school studies (including the HSC), and developing the skills necessary to work in Japan.
I'm proud to have guided numerous students from their initial steps as absolute beginners to confident Japanese speakers.

I believe learning should be both effective and enjoyable! To this end, I incorporate a variety of interactive activities, games, and online tools to make the learning process engaging.
I ensure a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable expressing themselves without fear of making mistakes.
My teaching philosophy centers around communicative practice, maximizing opportunities for students to engage in meaningful conversations throughout the lesson.

Having some prior knowledge of Japanese, Haruka was a great help in identifying the areas that I needed to work on. She also puts in great effort to find material that suit my interests and goals, as well as explaining it in an understandable way. Her positive energy make the lessons very enjoyable.

Earlier this year, I took part in a national speech contest, where she was very helpful during my preparation. Not only did she make sure that my speech was in correct Japanese, she also helped me with intonation as well as stage presence.

Haruka is a dedicated teacher with a passion for teaching, and I would recommend her lessons to any student at any level.
