About Boya
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language and have experience teaching students from beginner to advanced levels. I have also taught students from a range of language backgrounds. Both Mandarin and Cantonese are my native languages. I also have a PhD in Sociology, so if you are interested in learning about aspects of Chinese society and/or Chinese politics, I can incorporate these topics into our lessons.

I also offer a free trial lesson to discuss your goals before developing a personalised study plan with you. I tailor my teaching plans based on students’ levels and expectations. You will be able to choose from a range of options to focus on specific aspects of your learning, such as speaking and listening, character writing, or academic Chinese. For the HSK test, we will follow an HSK textbook. For everyday conversational Chinese, I will select suitable personalised materials for you, including podcasts, TV shows and film clips, to help you develop a natural sense of the language. For reading and writing, I will also choose news articles that are appropriate for your level. We will discuss your priorities and learning needs together, and I will design my teaching approach based on your expectations and needs.
