Painting with me isn’t about sitting quietly in front of an easel trying to make everything perfect. It’s about learning the fundamentals, then getting loose enough to stop being afraid of the paint.
I’ll teach you how I actually create in the studio, starting with underpainting and building a piece from the ground up. We’ll work with acrylics, layering, color, texture, movement, composition, and all the little decisions that can turn a blank canvas into something alive.
You’ll learn mark making, one of my favorite parts of abstract painting, and how different marks, lines, scratches, shapes, drips, brushstrokes, and unexpected gestures can give a painting its own personality. I’ll show you how to create depth without overworking a piece and how to know when a painting needs more, when it needs less, and when you need to put the damn brush down.
Most importantly, I’ll teach you how to paint loosely.
So many people are terrified of making a mistake that they tighten up before they ever really begin. I want to get you out of that mindset. We’ll experiment. We’ll make ugly layers. We’ll cover things up. We’ll make beautiful accidents. We’ll learn why something isn’t working and what happens when you stop trying to control every square inch of the canvas.
You don’t need to know how to draw perfectly. You don’t need an art degree. You don’t even need to think you’re “artistic.” You need curiosity, a willingness to experiment, and permission to make a mess.
I want to teach you how to trust your own eye, develop your own style, and create work that actually feels like you, instead of copying somebody else’s painting.
And yes, I’m going to teach you how to paint like a rock star.
Turn up the music. Grab the paint. Stop worrying about whether you’re doing it “right.”
Let’s make some fucking art.
