About Jojo

Learn practical Mandarin with confidence, even if you're starting from zero.

Whether you're learning Chinese for travel, family, work or exams, I'll help you build real communication skills through structured and enjoyable lessons.

No memorising long vocabulary lists without purpose, you'll learn Mandarin you can actually use.

Hello! I'm Jojo, a CTCSOL-certified native Chinese teacher from China, currently based in the UK.

Over the past three years, I have helped learners from different backgrounds improve their Mandarin for travel, work, exams and daily communication.

My teaching style is supportive, practical and student-focused. I believe language learning should be enjoyable and immediately useful in real life. That's why every lesson is tailored to your goals, interests and learning pace.

As someone living abroad, I also understand the challenges and rewards of cross-cultural communication, which helps me support learners beyond language itself.

I look forward to helping you achieve your Mandarin goals!

About the lesson

Mandarin Lessons Tailored to Your Goals
I welcome learners of all levels, from complete beginners to advanced students.

My lessons are fully personalised and designed around your specific objectives.

Popular learning goals:

Practical Mandarin for everyday conversations

Travel Chinese for visiting China

Chinese for work and business communication

HSK examination preparation

GCSE and A-Level Chinese support

Listening and speaking confidence

Pronunciation and tone improvement

Chinese culture and real-life communication

What to expect in class

My teaching is based on second-language acquisition principles, focusing on meaningful communication from day one.

You will learn Chinese through:

• practical conversations

• listening activities

• useful vocabulary

• grammar explained in a simple way

• real-life scenarios relevant to your goals

Rather than memorising large amounts of information, I help students understand how Chinese works and use it naturally.

For complete beginners

You don't need any prior knowledge.

I will guide you step by step through:

• pronunciation and tones

• pinyin

• sentence patterns

• everyday conversations

Lessons and materials will be selected based on your interests and preferred learning style.

For travel and work purposes

If you're planning to travel, study or work in China, I can create practical lessons based on real-life situations such as:

• ordering food

• shopping

• transportation

• social conversations

• meetings and business communication

• workplace emails
For exam preparation

If you're preparing for HSK, GCSE or A-Level Chinese, I will help you:

• understand exam requirements

• improve speaking and writing skills

• practise with mock materials

• identify weak areas efficiently

Trial Lesson

Before our first lesson, I will learn about your goals and current level so that your trial class is personalised and relevant to your needs.

Perfect! Jojo was great - very professional, engaging and happy to accommodate my needs.
She was prepared for our beginner lesson but was able to add a few extra phrases and advice, as I already knew a few words. This was appreciated :) Recommend!

Jojo is a very kind, patient, and friendly teacher. She taught me Mandarin from HSK 2 level, all the way to HSK 4 (currently).
Her lessons are very organised and well structured, and when you are feeling overwhelmed she knows how to adapt the class and regain your confidence!

First, I want to say Jojo is my most memorable language teacher! I also can speak Spanish and Portuguese, but Jojo has a professional, fun, easygoing, and memorable way of tutoring!

Therefore, I would highly recommend Jojo to anyone looking to learn Chinese effectively and enjoyably. She had transformed what I thought would be a challenging language into a fascinating journey!

I have improved greatly from her class, not only in words, tones, phrases, and grammar, but also in communicating smoothly and confidently in daily life (which was my goal since I live in China).

Her patience and encouragement create a supportive learning environment where I feel confident to ask questions and practice speaking without fear of mistakes.

What I appreciate most is the creativity in her lessons. For example, learning idioms through stories or practicing dialogue scenarios tailored to my daily life made the process feel relevant and exciting.

Her passion for teaching is truly contagious, and it keeps me motivated to improve my Mandarin skills. Jojo would make an amazing addition to Superproof and is a determined and kind teacher!
