About Sanad
I am an honors Philosophy and Neuroscience student who has studied at the University of Louisville and the University of Edinburgh. I've worked as a REACH tutor for a variety of subjects including English, Philosophy, Biology, and Psychology. I have extensive experience reading and grading essays, privately tutoring for university and high school students who go on to achieve top marks in their classes. I consistently perform at the top of my class. I received a 7 on my IB English HL exam and a 5 on both my AP US History and European History exam. Understanding the psychology behind what teachers and professors seek in a paper is knowledge only gained with extensive experience, which is information I seek to pass on.

Oftentimes, universities do not properly teach essay writing at their respective level; they assume you either were taught in high school, or have taken another class that did. My teaching methodology aims to pare down complex writing concepts into the absolute simplest terms possible. I adapt to students' existing skill set, and help them learn through ensuring they have a secure foundation - which is a key tenet to writing a good essay. Oftentimes I will also teach formulas for recurring essay types to make the writing process simpler - this includes, but is not limited to: summaries, literature reviews, synthesis, critical analyses, rhetorical analyses, research. For high school and undergraduate students, understanding the required structure and expectations at the given level is extremely important. While working through essays, I give many examples and suggestions for ways to improve writing; this includes (but is not limited to) syntax, content, and structure. If a student is not familiar with a certain type of essay, I will also go work through the steps. If students have a writing assignment where they're not yet sure what they need to write about, we begin by making a plan for it, so they feel confident during the drafting stage. On average, my students who have previously taken English improve their grade by about 15%. I always aim to explain any edits we make thoroughly, and want students to walk away understanding the changes we've made. The end goal will never not be to improve so much that you won't need anybody's help in the future! I am extremely confident that anyone can improve their writing through these classes, and feel rewarded witnessing not only my students' marks improve, but also their confidence boost.
