About Karin

Hi! I’m Karin, a native Japanese speaker from Japan, currently living in Sydney :)

I’m originally from the Osaka, so I speak both standard Japanese and Kansai-ben (Osaka dialect)!

I’m friendly, easy-going and love meeting people from different countries. Since living in Australia, I’ve realized how different learning a language from a textbook can be from actually using it in real life. I’ve also met so many people who love Japan or want to learn Japanese, which made me want to share my language and culture in a fun and relaxed way.

I’m new to tutoring, but I love talking to people and creating a comfortable atmosphere. I want my students to feel like they can just give Japanese a go without worrying about making mistakes.

Whether you’re learning Japanese for travel, culture, friends, work, or just for fun, I’d love to help you enjoy the process and become more confident speaking Japanese ;)

About the lesson

My lessons are relaxed, friendly and focused on Japanese you can actually use in real life!

We can practice everyday conversation, pronunciation, vocabulary, useful expressions, grammar, or whatever you’d personally like to improve.

I can teach standard Japanese, but if you’re interested, I can also teach you Kansai-ben (Osaka dialect) and explain the difference between textbook Japanese and the way people actually speak in Japan : )

Every student is different, so I don’t want to follow exactly the same lesson plan with everyone. We can personalize the lessons depending on your level, interests and goals.

Complete beginners are absolutely welcome! You don’t need to worry about making mistakes or speaking perfectly. We can start slowly and build your confidence together.

For face-to-face lessons, I’m happy to meet at a café, library or another public place in Sydney, and online lessons are also available.
