I believed I was a believer since the age of 4 when the Grace Baptist Church I attended with my family "led" all of the children through their "salvation program" but even then the Holy Spirit was already guiding me so strongly that I out right refused to participate in their "group baptism" the following Sunday!!

It wasn't until the age of 15 when my grandmother confronted me and walked me down the "Roman's Road" that I finally was convicted of being a lost sinner and my need for a Savior and became a believer in the finished work of Christ on the Cross and for the next 25 years honestly believed that was all I'd ever need (even though I had only known our Father as "God," only read at the most 25-30 chapters TOTAL from both OT/NT and had absolutely NO INTIMATE relationship with my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (I was the Mt 7 "Lord, Lord" believer)!!

At the age of 38 my mother unexpectedly (to us) went to be with our Lord but not before first making me promise her I'd seek someone out at the new church I had just recently began attending with my now wife of 5+ years to talk to about God the way her and I always did to which I finally agreed, saying "ok mom, yes, I'll find someone to talk to but I don't see why since you and I always talk about Him anyhow!!"

That promise was 10 days before she passed and it took me another 3+ months to fulfill it and the Pastor I met with introduced me to a Stephen Minister who asked me if "I was ready to get serious about my discipleship" to which I practically ran out of the church for fear that he had just officially asked me to join their cult lol!! Once I knew and understood what he had suggested I turned my head to the south, put my hand to the plow, and never turned back!!

After 2 FULL years of weekly, 1-2 hour long meetings EACH with my Stephen Minister, a Christian Therapist, and a different Christian Couples Therapist while also joining multiple small groups as well as leading multiple Student Ministries His Holy Spirit finally convicted me to sit down and read His Word for myself so I would stop quoting other pastor's quoting God and be able to say for myself whether or not it's in the Bible!! It was through this searching to KNOW Him through His Word that led me to being convicted of having no personal relationship with Jesus Christ nor knowing God as my Father (as results from that relationship) that I finally stopped doing ANYTHING FOR God and finally started only doing things that led to knowing God!! Once my spirit was filled with His Holy Spirit of Adoption and I was able to honestly cry out "Abba, Father" then little by little, step by step did He lead me back into ministering for Him!! And now I steward His Ministry of DOC's (Disciples of Christ) in which I disciple those He's led to follow me as I continue to pursue and follow Him!!

About the lesson

We usually start with an informal discussion of what's going on in life (and whatever aspects that might relate to) and then the Holy Spirit will bring up an issue during our talk that will lead us into discovering what His Word teaches about that subject and more often than not I share either a personal example of it from my own life or from the saints' lives that came before us for better application of His Truth!!

At other times we might just jump straight into Q&A (depending on where your walk with Christ currently is and also what it is you're being led to seek from our meetings for this season of your life) of which I've amassed over 1000 so far all with 2-5 Scriptures to support the answers!!

Everything I ever teach is 100% Scripture based (just how I was taught as well) so it will hopefully NEVER be "well Dan says...." but instead always be "God's Word says....!!"
