About Rebekah

I have 15 years experience teaching and supporting undergraduates and postgraduates at university in the areas of liberal arts, philosophy, and education studies. I have also published and presented papers internationally. This means i can teach a range of subject areas and thinkers depending on your needs.

I believe that meaningful learning requires invested teacher student relationships and that learning is most effective when the teacher gets to know you. Whilst this is something increasingly lacking in universities today i will do my best to make your learning personally significant as well as academically successful.

About the lesson

The aim of our sessions will be to deepen and extend your knowledge and understanding of a particular subject area and to enhance the reading and writing needed to express that understanding.

Instead of powerpoints and formulaic teaching methods we will take the reading of texts (chosen by you or worked out between us) as the starting point for questions and discussion. You can either read these in advance of our sessions or we can read extracts together when we meet.

The aim is to help you understand ideas, ask and pursue questions carefully, take notes and use quotations well, and write better essays. You set the outcomes of the sessions or we can do that together in conversation.

If you are looking to understand a particular topic, write an essay, feel more motivated and connected to your studies, or if you are just looking to boost your confidence and enjoyment at university, then please get in touch.

The typical length of a session will be 1 hour.

I have a PhD and specialize in tutoring people at, or for, university level, at any age.
