I would highly recommend Ted as a tutor - his support as well as his detailed and thoughtful preparation for our sessions were indispensable in my securing an offer to read Law at Oxford.

Investing a significant amount of his own time in preparing materials for our interview scenarios, as well as asking lots of probing questions which challenged my thinking, I found myself well-prepared for the style of an Oxbridge interview. Ted, of his own accord, willingly shared recordings of his own interview practice - listening to these audios and comparing our thought processes were imperative in improving my ability to adapt to different types of questions and identify alternate pathways to an answer. A similar approach was used in helping me to prepare for Section B of my LNAT (the essay). While asking me to complete timed practices of essay questions, to which he provided a detailed line-by-line feedback, Ted again shared his own timed essays which he wrote in response to the same questions. Ted was also immensely flexible in his overall approach, always seeking feedback as to the questions and interview style I found most challenging and always willing to tailor future lessons to address those concerns.

In my view, what truly sets Ted apart from other tutors is not simply his rigour but his genuine empathy for his tutees. Whether that entailed being refreshingly open about his own experience applying to Oxford, being patient and kind when taking me through problems that I found challenging, or simply offering support and encouragement outside of the formal sessions, I never felt as though our sessions were rushed or that his interest in helping me succeed was purely transactional. Without his constant reassurance and infectious sense of humour, I would not have felt as comfortable in the days leading up to my interviews. Finally, despite having started his own journey at Oxford, he readily slotted me into his week and remained highly accommodating on the timing of our sessions. I am so very grateful to Ted for all that he has done for me and I would absolutely recommend him without hesitation.

Ted was a brilliant help in my interview preparations for Oxford University. As a current Oxford Law student himself, Ted was able to design our mock interviews in a way that was, in hindsight, quite an accurate replica of the real interviews. He pushed me intellectually in his lines of questioning every time, from tricky questions about my personal statement, to constructing (or immediately adapting) challenging hypothetical scenarios for me to argue my way out of. He was also super generous in giving me a wide array of recorded past interviews for me to listen to in my own time so I can be as familiar to the process as possible, which helped me a lot in anticipating the sorts of generic and curveball questions the interviewers might ask. His schedule is also flexible, so our sessions were always structured to fit my needs in the best way possible. In fact, I remember that we had back to back sessions on two consecutive days when my first interview was only a few days away.

Other than Ted’s excellence in an academic sense as a tutor, he was also a very easygoing person to work with. His demeanour and encouragement made me feel more confident and relaxed in the way I conduct myself during high pressures which define interviews. Even after all my interviews were complete, Ted still periodically messaged me to check on my wellbeing and offered advice and words of encouragement during the period when I was waiting for Oxford’s decision.

I was offered a place to read law by Oxford, and despite Ted’s insistence that I could’ve succeeded without his help, I really believe that my chances of success would have been lower by quite a bit if not for his academic expertise and mental support. For those who, like me all those months ago, are scrambling to find a tutor for LNAT, or law mock interviews, or personal statement help, look no further than Ted.

Ted’s lessons are carefully tailored to suit the needs of every student, he is charismatic and genuinely enjoys the content he is teaching, a hallmark of good teaching. In addition to his passion for teaching, he is also extremely knowledgeable. Could not recommend more
