About Cheyenne
I am a High School English teacher with a current license in English, 9-12 in the state of North Carolina. In college I majored in English and minored in both Secondary Education and Urban Youth and Communities. Along with my two years of teaching experience, I have two years of experience as an intern with the Freedom School organization teaching summer literacy skills and courses. I have one year of experience as a Site Coordinator for Freedom School Partners in Charlotte, North Carolina.

I have a bachelor's degree in English with a concentration in pedagogy and secondary education. I am a High School English teacher in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools in North Carolina, so I give lessons to mostly high school English Language Arts and writing students. My techniques of instruction vary depending on the needs of my students, but there are a few constants that remain the same:
-My instruction always includes varying levels of scaffolding and modeling techniques and skills for my students.
-My instruction includes the addition of pushing my students toward developing critical thinking and communication skills
-My instruction involves student-centered activities, techniques, and tools because if the students are the focal point of the lesson (not me), then they will hold themselves accountable for their own growth and development.
-Lastly, my instruction almost always includes a real-world or social/emotional component. No matter what academic needs the students have, I believe that it is important to cater to their emotional needs as well. Having a teacher believe in them (and them knowing it) can make a huge difference in a student's academic progress.
