About Erin

Hello! My name is Erin, and I am a certified elementary teacher with classroom experience teaching kindergarten. I am passionate about helping young learners build strong foundations in reading, phonics, and early math skills. Working with children during these important early years is something I truly love because this is when students begin to discover their confidence as learners.
In my classroom, I work daily with students to develop phonemic awareness, phonics skills, reading fluency, and comprehension. I use structured, research-based literacy practices that help students understand how reading works rather than just memorizing words. I bring that same approach to tutoring so that students gain real understanding and lasting skills.
I am patient, encouraging, and committed to helping every student succeed. I understand that each child learns differently, so I take time to get to know my students and adjust my teaching to meet their needs. My goal is always to create a positive and supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, trying new things, and celebrating their progress.
As both a teacher and tutor, I believe learning should feel engaging, meaningful, and empowering. I love helping students grow not only in their academic skills but also in their confidence.

About the lesson

As a certified kindergarten teacher, my tutoring approach focuses on building strong reading and math foundations in a way that is engaging, supportive, and developmentally appropriate for young learners. I specialize in early literacy, especially phonics, phonemic awareness, and reading confidence. My goal is not only to help students improve their skills but also to help them feel proud of themselves as learners.
During tutoring sessions, I use structured and research based methods similar to what I use in my classroom. Lessons often include phonics practice, sound manipulation, blending and segmenting, sight word work, reading practice, and interactive games that reinforce the skill we are learning. I use visual supports, hands on activities, and positive encouragement so students stay motivated and successful.
A typical lesson begins with a quick review of previously learned skills, followed by focused instruction on a new concept. Students then practice the skill through guided reading, word work, or short activities designed to build automaticity and confidence. I always end lessons with a brief review and encouragement so students leave feeling successful.
What sets me apart as a tutor is that I am a current classroom teacher with daily experience helping young students learn to read. I understand the challenges that early learners face and know how to break skills down into manageable steps. I also focus on creating a warm and positive environment where students feel safe to try, make mistakes, and grow.
My lessons are best suited for preschool through early elementary students, especially kindergarten through second grade learners who need support with phonics, early reading, sight words, or foundational math skills. I also work well with students who may feel frustrated or lack confidence and need patient, encouraging instruction to help them succeed.
My goal is to help every child leave a lesson feeling more confident, capable, and excited about learning.
