About Sriram
Greetings! I am Sriram M, a music theorist, educator & pianist based in Chennai. I hold a Licentiate diploma in Music Theory (LMusTCL) as well as an Associate diploma in Piano Performance (ATCL). I am working on a fellowship diploma under a different board. My bond with music is something beyond emotional; it is rather philosophical. With a primary focus on building repertoire with underexplored works of well-known composers, I am also deeply invested in understanding form theory (Formenlehre). I intend to share this knowledge of mine with passionate people as an attempt to create an awareness of the significance of Western art music.

Being a dedicated Western art music educator, I am passionate about providing music theory & history lessons in the form of personalized one-to-one sessions in online mode. The mode of delivery of my sessions is a hybrid of lectures & discussions which creates a highly interactive learning environment. My sessions aim to create a natural learning curve for the student with the help of a unique self-designed curriculum. For the complete beginner, the sessions aim to provide an understanding of the historical context and a grasp of the fundamental concepts such as pitch, rhythm, tonality, melody, harmony & texture. However, the advanced learner is approached differently with lessons on complex analytical techniques which incorporate ideas from the Form Theory (Formenlehre). I also guide the learner in achieving various certifications such as Grade 8, AMusTCL & LMusTCL. The ideal student shall be aged 10 or higher with the ability to read notation and a deep commitment towards learning music theory.
