About Maad
Professionally, I taught Arabic as a foreign language for two years. Also, after moving to the United States, I have been tutoring in Modern Standard Arabic, mainstream Arabic dialects (Egyptian and Levantine), as well as Cyrenaican Arabic (Arabic spoken in Eastern Libya). I'm also interested in teaching people about the cultures and racial diversity of the Middle East and North Africa. I do all of that, using a secular approach to teaching that does not involve any religious agendas.

I have a Bachelor's degree in English Literature and Linguistics from Benghazi University, a Master's degree in TESOL and Linguistics from West Virginia University, and I'm currently pursuing my Ph.D. in TESOL and ESL Education at the University of South Carolina.
In my teaching, I use a student-center approach, so my students learn to use the language on their own, while I facilitate and guide them through the process of language acquisition. I am a big fan of using technology and multimedia in the classroom, so my lessons involve using language games, videos, and online learning platforms like Edmodo.
