About Alastair

Hi, I’m Alastair! I’m a graduate of Liverpool John Moores University with a BSc (Hons) in Science and Football, a course built around all areas of sport and exercise science. My degree covered physiology, biomechanics, psychology, nutrition, coaching, and performance analysis, giving me a well-rounded knowledge of the subject I love. I’ll be honest—I didn’t always find school easy. For a while, I struggled to enjoy learning until I discovered vocational courses, where I found my passion for sport and design. That was the turning point: I realised that with focus and consistency, I could achieve my goals. That determination eventually took me to university to study the subject I had always dreamed of. Because of my own journey, I understand that learning can sometimes feel tough—but I also know how much easier it becomes when you’ve got the right support. That’s why I bring a friendly, encouraging, and approachable style to my tutoring. I see myself as part mentor, part teacher—here to help you grow in confidence, enjoy the subject more, and reach your potential in sport science.

About the lesson

I like to keep my lessons engaging, supportive, and tailored to each student. Everyone learns differently, so I adapt my teaching style depending on whether you prefer clear explanations, visual aids, practical examples, or a more discussion-based approach. My goal is always to make sport science feel interesting, relatable, and easier to understand. A typical lesson lasts around an hour, but I can be flexible depending on what works best for you. We’ll break topics down step by step, check your understanding, and apply the knowledge to real-world sport and exercise scenarios so it sticks. I hold a BSc (Hons) in Science and Football from Liverpool John Moores University, where I studied across all areas of sport science including physiology, biomechanics, psychology, nutrition, performance analysis, and coaching. This means I can confidently support students across GCSE, A-Level, BTEC, and even university-level modules. My lessons are perfect for anyone who wants to: Build confidence in sport science Prepare for exams or coursework Connect theory to real sport performance Or simply enjoy learning the subject more! Most importantly, I like to teach in a way that feels encouraging and approachable—more like learning with a supportive coach or mentor than a strict classroom teacher.
