About Liz

Hi! I’m Liz. I’m a music teacher and violinist, currently pursuing a masters degree in violin performance at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. As a private teacher, I have 10 years of experience teaching ages 4-45. I’ve worked with all levels of musician, from beginner to advanced. Here in London, I teach as a peri teacher at the Sarah Bonnell School. Before moving out of New York, I was on faculty at the Scott Gentile Music School, where I would teach students violin, viola, voice and piano. Within these lessons I would also devote time to music theory (key signatures, rhythms, sight reading, chord progressions, etc) and ear training through solfège. This helped students become more well rounded musicians.

At the Aaron Copland School of Music in New York where I did my undergrad, I received three years of training in music education. Here I learned how to teach students in a classroom and private setting, attending master classes and participating in on-site teaching. While studying at the Aaron Copland School of Music, I took courses in composition, ear training and music theory, so I’m happy to help out in those fields as well. As a performer, I am trained classically in violin and voice.

As your teacher, I promise to make sure you grow as a musician and well rounded individual, giving you space to express yourself through speech and the playing of your instrument. I look forward to working with you!

About the lesson

In our lessons, we will make sure to incorporate theory as well as the necessary technique required in order to learn violin and viola. We will work through scales and arpeggios, and any music books or specific pieces that you would like. If you are interested in pursuing ABRSM, we can work through that method as well.
