Hello, my name is Rochelle, and I am a professional and experienced Afrikaans tutor with a strong academic background and a structured, learner-focused approach. I hold an LLB degree and have 5 years’ experience tutoring learners from pre-school up to Grade 12, across both CAPS and IEB curricula.

My approach to Afrikaans tutoring is structured, diagnostic, and highly learner-specific. Afrikaans is not a subject that improves through repetition alone — progress comes from understanding how language rules, vocabulary, and expression work together. I focus on identifying where a learner is getting stuck and why, then addressing those specific weak points in a deliberate and practical way.

I am an LLB graduate with 5 years’ experience tutoring Afrikaans from pre-school up to Grade 12, across both CAPS and IEB curricula. Over time, I have worked with learners who present a wide range of challenges, including gaps in foundational knowledge, language anxiety, slow processing, and attention-related difficulties. This experience has allowed me to recognise patterns in errors and adapt my teaching to support different learning needs effectively.

Lessons are carefully structured and adapted to the learner. Depending on the student, lessons may focus on:

Spelling, grammar, and sentence construction, with emphasis on accuracy and clarity

Reading comprehension and vocabulary, including understanding context and meaning

Writing skills, such as paragraphs, essays, summaries, and creative tasks

Formal writing, including transactional texts and exam-style responses

Oral work, such as speeches and prepared talks, with focus on confidence and fluency

A typical lesson begins with identifying gaps or recurring errors, followed by clear explanations and guided practice. I work at a pace that suits the learner, ensuring concepts are properly understood before moving forward. This approach is particularly effective for learners who feel overwhelmed, have learning gaps, or require more structured guidance.
