About Maria

Hi, I’m Maria. I know that building a business is not just about having an idea—it is about having the courage to begin, the discipline to stay organized, and the ability to make decisions when everything still feels uncertain.

I bring more than 20 years of experience from the hospitality and restaurant world, where every decision affects people, customer experience, costs, time, and profit. I have worked from fast-paced front-line operations to General Manager leadership, where I was responsible for teams, day-to-day operations, customer satisfaction, scheduling, inventory, cost awareness, staff development, and keeping a business moving when things became busy or difficult.

I have also worked independently in strategic business consulting and digital leadership, supporting clients with business organization, market positioning, project execution, customer-focused planning, and growth strategies. I understand both sides of business creation: the excitement of an idea and the reality of building systems that make it possible to deliver on that idea consistently.

I am an honors graduate of Seneca Polytechnic’s Hospitality and Restaurant Management Services Diploma program and am currently completing an Honors Bachelor of Commerce in Business Management. My studies have expanded my practical experience through business finance, accounting, statistics, management, marketing, operations, project management, international business, sustainability, leadership, and strategic planning.

My approach is direct, supportive, and grounded in reality. I will encourage your ambition, but I will also help you ask the questions that protect your time, money, and energy. You do not need to know everything before booking a lesson. You just need to be ready to explore your idea seriously and take one practical step at a time.

About the lesson

You do not need a perfect business plan before you begin. You need a clear idea, honest answers to the right questions, and a realistic path from where you are now to your first customer.

My coaching is for people who have been saying, “I want to start something,” but are stuck between the idea and the first real step. Maybe you have a service you want to offer, a restaurant or food-business concept, an online business idea, a side hustle, or a small local business you want to take seriously. You may already have notes everywhere, a name picked out, a few customers in mind, or you may be starting with nothing but an idea. All of that is okay.

In our sessions, we will take your idea apart and build it back into something practical. We will look at who your customer is, what problem you solve, why they would choose you, what you need to start, what you can realistically afford, how you will price your offer, and what needs to happen first.

We can work on:

Clarifying your business idea and the customer problem you solve

Choosing a realistic first service, product, or offer

Identifying your target customer and researching competitors

Building a clear value proposition and elevator pitch

Creating a simple business model and revenue plan

Pricing your offer without guessing

Estimating start-up costs and creating a basic budget

Building a practical launch checklist and 30-, 60-, or 90-day action plan

Creating customer-service standards and an organized client journey

Planning basic operations, schedules, supplies, staffing, and daily systems

Organizing business-plan sections, research, assignments, and pitch presentations

Using Excel for budgets, task tracking, pricing, and simple business planning

Preparing to speak confidently about your business idea to customers, partners, or instructors

I will not just hand you a template and tell you to fill it in. We will use your actual idea, your actual resources, and your actual goals. I will help you see what is realistic now, what can wait until later, and what you need to do next.

You are welcome to bring your notes, a business-plan draft, an assignment rubric, a pitch deck, a budget, an Excel spreadsheet, a website idea, a product idea, or a blank page. We will start where you are.

At the end of each session, you will leave with a clear next step, not more confusion or a long list you will never use.

These are educational coaching sessions. I can help you research, organize, practise, and make informed decisions.
