About Megan

My name is Megan and I am a Bachelors student of Advanced Spanish, in my second year at the University of Reading. My knowledge of Spanish has been building since I was 11, and from there I have obtained a grade 9 in Spanish GCSE and an A* in Spanish A-Level. As for my University work, I achieved a 'first' grade in Spanish language during my first year of Univesity.

Whilst new to tutoring, I have experience as a teaching assistant volunteer at Sir Henry Floyd Grammar School, assisting a year 7s Spanish class. In this role, I assisted the main teacher of the class, answered students' questions and concerns, coached students individually, carried out and marked speaking exams, and delivered my own lesson with direction from the teacher. I also have experience as an outdoor instructor, leading and teaching a wide range of outdoor activities to children aged 7-17, which has given me transferrable skills for tutoring.

In my home life, I love helping my four younger sisters with their schoolwork, which inspired my venture into private tutoring.

About the lesson

Currently studying BA Advanced Spanish at University level, and obtaining grades A* and 9 at A-Level and GCSE respectively, I feel entirely confident in my knowledge of the Spanish language and my ability to teach this.

My lessons utilise of a wide range of exercises to optimise language learning including flash cards, songs, quizzes, films, worksheets and more. Insight into the student's personal learning style will aid learning, and lessons will be catered to each student's needs.

Length of lessons will depend on each student's goals and budget, but I can be flexible with tutoring sessions from 30 mins to 2 hours available.

You don't need to be a GCSE or A-Level student to access my lessons, but a very basic knowledge of Spanish is ideal so we can build from this foundation. GCSE and A-Level curriculums will be utilised as a cross-reference to ensure language goals are being met, but if there are specific areas of the language or goals a student has in mind (e.g. preparing for a business trip to Spain, wanting to learn industry-specific vocabulary) this can be catered to.
