About Iain

I’m a macroeconomist with real-world experience in both financial consulting and economic research. I hold a first-class degree from UCL, grounded in a strong mathematic and quantitative basis where I wrote a prize-winning dissertation. I’m passionate about helping students develop both a strong understanding of economics and mathematics, and hope to inspire real confidence in applying it. I aim to make lessons clear, approachable, and engaging — creating a space where questions are always encouraged and no topic is off-limits. Whether you're preparing for exams, struggling with tricky concepts, or just want to deepen your understanding, I’m here to help you feel supported and motivated.

About the lesson

Hi, I’m Iain, and I believe the best learning happens when lessons are tailored to suit you. My approach focuses on targeting areas for improvement with clear explanations, step-by-step problem-solving, and helping you build confidence in your subject — not just memorise facts. I prefer my students to send across recent work before my sessions so I can tailor what we will cover to their needs. I use a mixture of guided questions, real-world examples, and interactive discussion to make sure every lesson sticks. Whether you prefer a calm walkthrough or a challenge-based approach, I’ll match the style to your pace and goals. What to Expect: Lessons typically last 60 minutes, though I’m happy to adapt based on your needs. I focus on creating an open, relaxed environment where questions are always encouraged. About Me: I hold a First-class Bachelor's degree in Economics from UCL and spent considerable time tutoring my peers and juniors Economics and Mathematics in my second and third year. At school I volunteered to tutor junior students mathematics. Over the years, I’ve helped students of all ages — from school pupils preparing for exams and more recently lead Excel workshops for my colleagues at work. Who I Teach: I offer lessons for: Ages 13 and up Levels: Up to and including A-Level tutoring for Economics and Mathematics, and Adult Learning for Excel up to and including intermediate understanding. I look forward to working with students looking for exam preparation, coursework support, or simply to strengthen their understanding!
