About Nathan

I'm an independent music producer and multi-instrumentalist. I've been playing guitar since I was 8, composing music on DAWs since I was 12, and playing in bands since 2012. The first few times I attended jam nights in 2012, there seemed to be an ample supply of guitarists and drummers, but only a few bassists. In order to fill in the gap and keep the music going, I got on bass, and instantly FELL IN LOVE with it! Not only could you shake the room with your tone, but you could direct the jam by the groove you laid down and the notes you chose. I was addicted! Since then, bass has been my main instrument. Not only have my skills, techniques and tone developed over the years, but my understanding of what it really means to be a bass player in a band has deepened over time. I've learned that you don't need to show off - bass can be modest while being quietly in control. But when it's your time to whip out a beastly slap line ... you're the ultimate daddy! I wanna share my love of bass with you! And to show you that bass is by far the quickest, simplest, and most effective way to get a room bouncing!

About the lesson

Putting the FUN into FUNK! Bass guitar can be technical, and it can be complicated. But stripped back, some of the simplest bass lines are the most memorable, and pack the most punch! I was never a technical kind of guy. I've always been a feeler. But with over 15 years' experience playing bass, including being part of a touring jam band, I've learned a thing or two about what it takes to become a proficient bassist, and I get such a buzz sharing this knowledge with my students! In my lessons, I'll teach you the mindset, the technique, and some simple methods to get an audience instantly dancing - with as little as two notes! I teach from complete beginner to advanced. Fingerstyle, pick and slap. Lessons range from 30 minutes to a full hour. Styles taught include [but not limited to] -- funk / rock / dub / reggae / soul.

He's a decent fellow who genuinely cares about other people. He's good hearted and generous, sincere and trustworthy. We used to share a social grouping before I became more hermitic.

Honestly I haven't heard him play but I know he is one of a group of long time musical friends. If he feels up to teaching I have every faith he has the skills both to play and to teach. He's that type of person.

I recommend him based on his character.
