About Xia

Hi, I’m Xia! I grew up in a small city in southern China and moved to Australia at 17 to study veterinary science at the University of Sydney. I’ve always loved animals and nature — that’s probably why I chose this path. Outside of school, my interests are all over the place! I love handcrafts, playing guitar, singing, and ice skating. I’m also a huge Real Madrid fan, and Luka Modrić is my absolute favorite player. I have a big curiosity for the world — I enjoy exploring different languages, psychology, and Chinese culture, and I even speak a Chinese dialect called Hakka. Friends often say I’m empathetic and easy to talk to, and I really love helping others. I hope to share the beauty of my country and language with you, while also learning about your stories and cultural perspectives. Can’t wait to meet you and start this journey together!

About the lesson

As a native Chinese speaker with a deep love for language and culture, I believe learning should be fun, interactive, and practical. My goal is to help students not only understand Chinese, but also feel confident using it in real life.

Teaching Method and Techniques

I use a student-centered approach, meaning every lesson is tailored to your goals and level. We’ll mix structured learning — like vocabulary, pronunciation, and grammar — with real-life conversations, cultural stories, and even Chinese idioms to make lessons engaging and memorable.

A Typical Lesson Plan

Warm-up (5 mins): Quick review or a casual chat to get you speaking.

Core Learning (25–30 mins): Vocabulary, sentence patterns, and interactive practice with examples.

Culture Spotlight (10 mins): Explore a cultural topic like festivals, history, or daily life phrases.

Practice & Feedback (10 mins): Conversation or role-play to reinforce what you learned, plus constructive feedback.
