Hi, I’m Robert B., a professional painter and experienced art instructor based in Los Angeles. I’ve been teaching drawing and painting for over 10 years, and I specialize in helping students of all ages and skill levels improve their artistic abilities from the comfort of their own home.
Whether you're looking to refresh your skills or just getting started, my lessons are fun, encouraging, and tailored to your interests — from portraits of friends and pets to landscapes, original characters, or your favorite anime and cartoon styles.
We begin with the fundamentals: shapes, proportion, accuracy, perspective, line quality, color, and design. Once you're confident with the basics, we’ll move into creative projects based on your goals. I teach a wide range of traditional mediums including graphite, charcoal, colored pencil, ink, watercolor, acrylic, and oil.
If you’re ready to grow as an artist at your own pace with professional guidance, I’d love to work with you.

Robert is one of the best art teachers I’ve ever had. I was nervous coming back to formal instruction after 25 years, but Robert immediately made me feel comfortable and supported. He tailored our sessions to my specific skill level, and I feel like my skill level practically catapulted over just a few months of working with him. Robert has been one of my biggest cheerleaders with regards to my growth as an artist, and I feel so lucky to call him a teacher, mentor, and friend.
I had the privilege of learning from Robert in an art class for over a year, and I can confidently say that he is an exceptional teacher and mentor. His teaching style on Superprof would be best described as comprehensive, approachable, and encouraging—perfect for students at any level, whether they are beginners looking to master the basics or more experienced artists aiming to refine advanced techniques.
I highly recommend Robert to other Superprof members because he is not only incredibly knowledgeable about a wide range of mediums, including pastels, oils, charcoal, and graphite, but also deeply committed to his students’ growth. His ability to teach both fundamentals and advanced rendering with clarity and patience makes him stand out. Additionally, his kindhearted and professional demeanor fosters a supportive learning environment where students feel confident to explore and improve their artistic skills.
If you’re looking for a teacher who is as invested in your confidence and creativity as he is in technical excellence, Robert is the perfect choice. His passion for art and dedication to his students make him a truly inspiring mentor.Robert has been absolutely incredible. He is truly as talented as he is patient as he is kind. I run a membership club in LA and we've sent many of our members to him, who have all LOVED learning from him.
I myself have had the honor of taking one of his classes, and I could not believe the results. He makes art so inviting, especially to newbies like me. Would HIGHLY recommend to anyone and everyone!Robert made sure we had an GREAT time and met us where we were at with our skill level. His positivity is infectious! 10/10 teacher
Robert is not only an incredibly talented artist but he’s also great at teaching art. He has been my 13 year old son’s art teacher for the past few years and the progress we see in my sons craft is incredible. Robert goes through each medium progressing into the harder oils as your artist develops. If you are even considering art lessons, don’t hesitate to consider him as your first option.
I’ve had the pleasure of take classes with Robert, he has helped me strengthen my skills and most importantly, build my confidence as a painter. He’s patience and caring approach makes it a joy to show up and learn.
Robert was a great teacher! I had zero drawing experience and thought it would be a skill that would be very challenging to master. After just two lessons with Robert I was already creating art that I was proud of, and with the skills he taught me I continued progressing in my own time. We played with charcoal, pencil, colored pencil, pastels and more. And for every medium, he had a great way of explaining things really simply and encouraging me as I learned. I highly recommend him to anyone getting started!
I met Robert a few years ago at an art studio in LA. He was always incredibly patient and meticulous, guiding me to create art that stayed true to my own vision. His encouragement and kindness gave me a deep sense of confidence. I’m very grateful for the chance to learn from him; it was a truly transformative experience. I would strongly recommend Robert to anyone seeking a painting mentor—he is exceptional!

I studied with Robert for several years and he is such an insightful and creative teacher. He helped hone my craft, pushed my creativity, and found simple ways to help me overcome challenges. I love the artworks I created during his classes. I highly recommend Robert as a teacher to guide your art practice.
Robert has been, hands down, the best teacher I’ve ever had. From day one, he demonstrated patience, kindness, and a genuine passion for helping his students succeed. His level of talent is inspiring, and he knows exactly how to break down complex concepts, making them accessible and enjoyable to learn. I took classes with Robert for a year, and looking back, I’m truly amazed at how far I’ve come. The difference between when I started and where I am now feels like night and day, and it’s all thanks to his expert guidance and encouragement. He doesn’t just teach; he invests in each student’s growth, building confidence alongside skill. I couldn’t recommend anyone more highly!
I’ve seen Robert in action as a teacher many times, both in person and online. He is an extremely kind, caring, nurturing instructor with a lot of knowledge to share. He always meets students where they are and helps them progress further. When students get a chance to work with him, they keep coming back for more.
