About Ammar

I am a PhD Engineer, university professor, researcher, and multidisciplinary educator with more than 25 years of experience in geography-related analysis, GIS, mapping, spatial data, remote sensing, environmental systems, engineering, statistics, and professional software applications.

I have taught and supported school and university students, graduate researchers, educators, engineers, planners, analysts, professionals, and career-transition learners. My experience includes geographic interpretation, spatial databases, environmental and regional analysis, map production, data visualization, research methodology, and technical reporting.

My teaching philosophy is based on a clear principle: geography should explain relationships among location, environment, people, resources, and change—not merely describe places.

I explain how geographic questions are formulated, how maps and spatial data represent reality, why a particular analytical method is appropriate, and how the results should be verified and interpreted. I also help learners identify projection errors, incorrect classifications, misleading maps, poor data quality, and unsupported geographic conclusions.

My expertise includes:

• Physical, human, economic, urban, regional, and environmental geography
• Cartography, thematic mapping, topographic interpretation, projections, and coordinate systems
• ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap, ArcGIS Online, StoryMaps, and QGIS
• Vector and raster data, georeferencing, digitizing, spatial queries, overlays, buffers, and terrain analysis
• Remote sensing, satellite imagery, classification, vegetation indices, and change detection
• Google Earth, Google Earth Engine foundations, GPS data, and online mapping tools
• Excel, Power BI, Python, GeoPandas, statistics, data visualization, and geographic reporting
• Academic assignments, GIS projects, research studies, fieldwork, portfolios, and professional applications

Lessons are personalized to your level, curriculum, software, data, and objectives. I can help you learn systematically from the beginning, understand a difficult geographic concept, complete an assignment, build a GIS project, analyze spatial data, interpret satellite imagery, or improve a professional map or report.

My goal is to help you become more accurate, confident, and independent. You should leave each lesson understanding what the geographic evidence shows, why the method was selected, how to verify the result, and how to apply the same reasoning to future spatial problems.

• Understanding how physical processes shape landscapes and influence human activity

2- HUMAN AND ECONOMIC GEOGRAPHY
• Population, migration, urbanization, settlement, culture, development, inequality, and globalization
• Agriculture, industry, transport, trade, energy, services, and regional economic change
• Interpreting demographic, social, economic, and environmental indicators

3- MAPS AND CARTOGRAPHY
• Scale, direction, coordinates, projections, symbols, legends, contours, and topographic maps
• Thematic maps, choropleth maps, proportional symbols, heat maps, flow maps, and reference maps
• Map design, visual hierarchy, colour, classification, labeling, accuracy, and interpretation

4- GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEMS
• GIS concepts, spatial databases, layers, features, attributes, coordinate systems, and projections
• Vector and raster data, points, lines, polygons, imagery, terrain, and tabular information
• Data import, editing, joining, querying, georeferencing, digitizing, and spatial-data management

5- SPATIAL ANALYSIS
• Buffering, overlay, proximity, intersection, union, clipping, selection, and spatial relationships
• Density, distribution, clustering, accessibility, suitability, network, and terrain-analysis foundations
• Translating geographic questions into defensible spatial-analysis workflows

6- REMOTE SENSING
• Satellite and aerial imagery, sensors, spatial resolution, spectral resolution, temporal resolution, and image bands
• Image enhancement, interpretation, classification, vegetation indices, land-cover analysis, and change detection
• Applications in agriculture, urban growth, environment, hazards, water, forestry, and planning

7- DATA, STATISTICS, AND VISUALIZATION
• Collecting, cleaning, organizing, and validating geographic and statistical data
• Tables, percentages, rates, averages, distributions, correlations, trends, and comparative indicators
• Statistical graphs, thematic maps, dashboards, and evidence-based geographic interpretation

8- URBAN, ENVIRONMENTAL, AND REGIONAL APPLICATIONS
• Urban growth, land use, transportation, infrastructure, accessibility, services, and regional planning
• Climate change, pollution, natural resources, sustainability, environmental impact, and hazard assessment
• Geographic analysis for community, business, policy, engineering, and development problems

9- SOFTWARE AND DIGITAL TOOLS
• ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap, ArcGIS Online, and StoryMaps
• QGIS
• Google Earth and Google Earth Engine foundations when relevant
• Excel, Power BI, Python, GeoPandas, raster tools, GPS data, and online mapping platforms when appropriate
• Software is used to support geographic reasoning—not to replace understanding of place, scale, process, and evidence

10- EDUCATIONAL, RESEARCH, AND PROFESSIONAL PROJECTS
• School geography, university courses, assignments, examinations, fieldwork, reports, and presentations
• GIS projects, map portfolios, spatial databases, remote-sensing studies, dashboards, and research applications
• Projects may use your own geographic data, provided that confidential or sensitive information is handled appropriately

B- PERSONALIZED TUTORING: LEARN TO THINK
-------------------------------------------------------
Geography becomes much easier when places, people, environments, maps, spatial data, and real-world processes are connected clearly.

My lessons help you move beyond memorizing locations or software commands. You will learn how to interpret geographic patterns, work with maps and spatial datasets, select appropriate analytical methods, evaluate evidence, and communicate geographic findings accurately.

Each lesson is personalized to your current level, curriculum, software environment, assignment, examination, research project, or professional objective. We begin by identifying your existing knowledge, required output, available data, and main conceptual or technical difficulties. We then establish a focused learning plan.

The first free lesson combines a discussion of your background, objectives and tutoring needs, an initial assessment of your current knowledge, personalized planning and scheduling, and a short trial lesson so that we can determine the most effective way to work together.

A typical lesson may include conceptual explanation, map interpretation, software demonstration, guided spatial analysis, data visualization, troubleshooting, and validation of the final result.

You may bring your textbook, map, dataset, assignment, GIS file, satellite image, research question, or professional project. I can also provide structured exercises adapted to your level.

My objective is not merely to help you produce one map or run one GIS tool. It is to help you understand the geographic question, select appropriate data and methods, verify the analysis, and communicate spatial conclusions clearly and responsibly.

Details

The first free lesson is a structured introductory and trial session. We will briefly introduce ourselves—including your academic or professional background and my relevant expertise—clarify your objectives, deadlines and tutoring needs, and assess your current knowledge through discussion and a short diagnostic activity. We will then establish a focused learning plan and schedule for future lessons. The remaining time will be used for a short trial lesson on a representative concept or problem, allowing you to experience my teaching approach before deciding whether to continue.
