About Salvia

Having grown up all over the world, I developed a love for language and respect for other cultures at a very young age. I am passionate about building bridges between people, whatever that looks like. Apart from being an enthusiastic language teacher, I also lead community singing groups. I love helping my students to unlock their voices, whether in conversation or song!

In my English lessons, I have developed a multi-media approach that uses resources from all over the web and beyond. Your lessons and resources (such as homework, if you want it!) will be managed on a shared project management website which is super user friendly and accessible.

About the lesson

Many years of teaching have shown me one thing - each student is unique. I am here to meet *your* needs. I am most interested in finding out exactly what it is you're looking for in your lessons and making sure you get it. Whether you're wanting to develop your reading and writing skills, build your vocabulary and your confidence, or become an effortless conversationalist, I'm here for you, whatever your age or level!

Lessons can be from 15-90 minutes long, depending on your capacity and level. That time might be used for conversation, error reduction, accent elimination, vocabulary development, writing and reading practice, grammar exercises, role playing scenarios, test preparation: whatever will help you the most.

I have been teaching languages for 15 years, in private academies, public schools, universities and online. For the last 7 years I have been providing high quality English tutoring to children and adults of all levels online. I have an undergraduate degree in English, Xhosa, and other languages, a Post-Graduate Certificate of Education (PGCE), and a Master's degree in Applied Linguistics, which included a special focus on language acquisition.
