As a freelance journalism tutor and consultant, I greatly enjoy mentoring students and early-career journalists, helping them develop their pitches, projects and stories from conception to final edits. This work underscores my commitment to nurturing the next generation's journalistic skills.

About the lesson

My approach to journalism tutoring is deeply rooted in the philosophy of creative and practical learning, blending hands-on experiences with theoretical insights to prepare students for the dynamic world of journalism. My teaching methodology is highly personalized, designed to adapt to the unique needs, goals, and learning styles of each student. I believe in a 'learning by doing' approach, where students actively engage in desk research, crafting pitches, reporting, fieldwork, writing, editing, and packaging stories. This immersive experience is complemented by real-world examples that teach journalism fundamentals and instill a sense of integrity and ethical reporting.A typical lesson with me lasts about 60 minutes.

With over half a decade of experience in journalism and education, I bring a wealth of knowledge and insight to my tutoring. have worked as a reporter and a freelance journalist covering politics, development, travel, culture, migration and social justice issues for various news outlets and have also conducted workshops and lectures for various universities and organisations.
I am open to mentoring anyone from a high school student aspiring to be a journalist, to a college student, to an early career journalist. My lessons are designed for learners of all levels and ages, from those just starting their journey in journalism to professionals looking to refine their skills. Whether you are aiming to complete a college assignment, pitch a story idea, or polish a report, my tailored classes are designed to help you achieve your specific goals.
