About Alfred
I spent 20 years as a geologist in the energy sector. I am now focused on teaching high school science (3 years). I have always had a love for science and truly enjoy helping others understand the world around them in a meaningful and sustainable way. I hope that some of my students get addicted to science like I did and seek out to improve the world with what they learn.

My teaching method and techniques include getting to know each individual students learning needs and learning style. I adjust the lessons so that each student maximizes their learning and has fun doing it. I like to incorporate hands on activities to enhance learning and retain the important aspects of the content. My focus on individual students needs and flexibility in presenting content to maximize the learning process sets me apart from other tutors.
A typical lesson plan will start with an engagement exercise that will allow the student to contribute what they currently know about the content using real world, relatable examples that will help engage the student. This is followed by knowledge exchange personalized to the students learning style(s) (presentation, reading, videos, etc.). After the content transfer we will do an activity also personalized to the students learning style(s) including, graphic organizers, summaries of content, research projects, presentations, etc. I can teach various science subjects to students in grades 1-12.
