About Carmela
I am currently working as a magazine journalist in Scotland but have always had a passion for English, reading and writing. I am keen to help students become confident readers and to enjoy what they may not have previously due to feeling like it was boring, difficult or made no sense. There are texts out there for everyone. No matter what makes you happy in life, you can pick up a book and find something that relates to you, and that is simply amazing.

My methodology will be personalised to your own needs, as all students are different and so require different methods of support. - First, we will ascertain what stage you are at in your education and what helps you learn and retain most easily. From here lessons will be planned and shaped around helping you to learn in the most comfortable way for you. - examples include visual learning, auditory learning, writing learner, reading learner etc. - Together we will explore the texts that have been assigned to you in class, such as plays, prose, poetry and short stories. We will break these down into much easier digestible chunks so as to understand them as a whole. - We will learn not only how to break down and understand these texts but how to confidently answer difficult, confusing and challenging essay questions with ease. - Most of all, we will make boring, difficult texts relevant to the modern day and much more fun to want to read. English need not be something to dread or to hate, it just requires closer care and attention to understand where the authors are coming from and the kind of lives that they lived when they were alive many years before us!
