About Samir
I have years of experience as a one-on-one private tutor and as a tutor with NCSU's Academic Support Program for Student-Athletes. Because of my experience tutoring students with such a wide range of interests, abilities, and motivations, I work with my students to find the best ways for them to engage with the material. A bonus of that is that my students also develop study habits that work for them that they can use in other subject areas!
In addition to tutoring, I also held weekly recitations and workshops devoted to essay writing as a Teaching Assistant at UNC Chapel Hill where I received my MA.

I specialize in tutoring the Reading/Writing and Language sections of the SATs and the English/Writing/Language sections of the ACTs.
I have helped my students boost their SAT Reading/Language and Writing and ACT English/Reading/Writing scores!
In my tutoring sessions, I cover grammar and punctuation, reading comprehension, test-taking strategies, and critical thinking. I break down questions and complex passages into easy-to-understand steps using guided practice exercises. My goal is to help the student to discover their problem areas, their own learning styles, and how to solve the problems on their own. This method not only improves their scores, but it also boosts their self-confidence and reduces test anxiety!
