About Nelly
Bonjour ! I’m Nelly, a French native speaker and qualified Modern Foreign Languages teacher. I have a PGCE and QTS, as well as a Master’s degree in International Law.
I’ve taught Languages in both France and the UK, including in a SEN school in France and in several schools in England. I can teach French up to KS5 and Spanish up to KS4, so whether you’re just starting out, preparing for an exam, or simply want to feel more confident speaking French, I’m happy to help!
I’ve always loved languages and I’m familiar with seven of them, so I know first-hand that learning a language can sometimes feel intimidating. My aim is to make it feel much more approachable and make you enjoy it along the way!
I’m curious, friendly and a little bit obsessed with the stories behind words. I love discovering where French expressions come from, finding connections between languages and bringing a bit of French culture into my lessons.
Most importantly, I want you to feel comfortable. You don’t need to speak perfect French before coming to me, that’s what the lessons are for! We’ll work at your pace, have a laugh, make mistakes and build your confidence along the way.

I like to make French feel real, useful and fun — not just a list of grammar rules to memorise!
My lessons are 50 minutes long. We start with a quick chat and a little reminder of what we did last time, then we pick up where we left off and build from there. I like introducing new concepts through real French culture: a song, an expression, a bit of history, a funny French habit, or even the story behind a word. I love etymology, so there are always little stories and connections to discover!
I speak mostly French during the lesson, but of course I adapt this to your level. The goal is to get you using French and feeling comfortable with it. And don't worry about making mistakes — that's how you learn! I think confidence is just as important as grammar.
We usually finish with a little recap or quiz to see what we've picked up, and if there's something that needs a bit more work, we'll give it some extra attention.
I have a PGCE and QTS in Modern Foreign Languages, as well as a Master's degree in International Law. I am also familiar with six languages, so I know what it's like to be on the other side of language learning!
My lessons are for everyone — complete beginners, GCSE and A-level students, advanced learners, or simply people who want to enjoy French and feel more confident using it. We can adapt the lessons to whatever you need.
