As a math tutor, my approach focuses on building deep understanding and confidence rather than simple memorization of formulas. I break complex problems into clear, manageable steps and emphasize the reasoning behind each process so students understand the “why,” not just the “how.” A typical lesson begins with a brief review of previous material or homework questions, followed by a clear explanation of the day’s concept with worked examples, guided practice where the student solves problems with support, and finally independent practice to strengthen confidence and problem-solving skills. I adapt my explanations to each student’s learning style and focus on organization, logical thinking, and avoiding common mistakes. I primarily work with high school and college students in courses such as Algebra, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, College Algebra, and Introductory Statistics, as well as adult learners returning to math.
