About Elisa
I have a BS in Mathematics from Boston University. I worked in private and parochial schools for 25 years. I also worked with math teachers to help improve the learning environment and styles by integrating technology in the classroom. I currently work as an examiner for IB Math Applications and Interpretations. I love to help students meet with emotional and academic success by improving problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

I need to get to know you and your background. I become a math detective, finding out your foundation in math, strengths and weaknesses. Honesty and openness help us build a relationship to learn and develop a better understanding of the math concepts. Using real-life examples and making math relevant helps to make connections from the concrete to the abstract. Tools: graphing calculators, Desmos, visual aids, games, videos, vocabulary builders - Quizlet, practice, communication are some ways that I differentiate my lessons. Learning math can be difficult and frustrating. We need to spend more time on subjects that we do not like and that are hard for us. You need to build confidence and know that you can learn in a safe, supportive environment.
