About Zainab

Becoming a teacher had always been on the table, at the far end of the table but still very much on it. My love for numbers started of at the very beginning and I sat for my ‘O’ Levels in Mathematics and Pure Mathematics at the age of 14. Infact, having not managed to get the required grades for Chemical Engineering at Imperial College was a pivotal moment, leading me to apply for a degree in BSC (Hons) Mathematics and Its Applications at Cardiff University which I completed with a 1st Class Honours.

Over the lockdown period (mainly to stop going stir crazy!) I undertook an online course on Vedic Mathematics and have now successfully obtained a Diploma in Vedic Mathematics and working towards Teacher Training in Vedic Mathematics. This course taught me how Maths beautifully aligns how our brains think naturally and how Maths is simple once we find the tricks and really play with numbers.

I also have a PG Diploma in Actuarial Science & Professional Qualification: Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA) – First Time Passes 2009.

About the lesson

After having two beautiful and vivacious girls, I actively decided to take a career break and now that the girls are in full time schooling I have decided to re-engage my brain into what I do best – share and apply my knowledge. The journey into teaching started out with reaching out and volunteering to read one to one with the children in my daughter's school. I truly enjoyed myself, engaging with the children, seeing them grow into young confident readers. This was that spark that led me to see my options into teaching and putting my degree to good use. Now having first hand exposure at online home schooling with Microsoft Team and guiding the girls has certainly given me a further insight into teaching. One of the positives during these COVID times!

I simply cannot express the feeling of utter joy when I came across this opportunity with yourselves and the fact it ticks all my boxes and I would be honoured if you could allow me to express and share my knowledge and help children break the fear of maths and make them truly enjoy it and see that it is FUN! This is the crux you see – Mathematics has always been feared, from children to adults alike having various 50 Shades of Math Horror Stories! I truly want to convince, engage and change their story to finding 50 Joys in Maths!
