About Ross

I am a lectuer in mathematics at Dorset College, I'm an experienced tutor and I've had 10 students in the past, all of whom increased their grades as well as gaining a feeling of confidence and understanding that they otherwise would not have had.

I am passionate about mathematics education, and i believe the school system is woefully inadequate when it comes to inspiring students in the subject.

I studied maths and philosophy in college, was the auditor of the mathematics society and before that I was head boy of St Andrew's College Dublin.

I teach through a combination of guided problems, interesting explanations and active problem solving which routinely gives students a deeper understanding of what they're studying and why.

I am a calm and patient person and i have always been described as a good explainer of complex ideas.

About the lesson

I like to focus on broader aspects of mathematical learning, with a focus on improving students' mathematical intuition. It's a good fit for people who feel less confident or intimidated by maths. I introduce topics one step at a time, in an approachable manner, giving time for a student to be comfortable with any given topic before moving on.
