About Denise
My name is Denise Uhakheme. I've worked closely with students aged 4 through 20 for over three years now, and over that time I've learned that no two people think the same. I love math through and through, but I always keep in mind not everyone feels that way. Ideally, after working with me students are able to take away at least one concept that doesn't feel "annoying" anymore, and maybe even feels fun.

When I teach, it's important to me that I teach the way students learn. As I get to know a student, I'll adjust my methods to fit their needs (doing long division the way they learned it, explaining fractions the way they understand them, etc.). I always build on what they do know, instead of burying them in what they don't.
