About Marinela
Hi, I’m Marinela!
I have three years of experience supporting students in local schools, providing one-to-one and small-group tuition, alongside eight years of professional experience in data analytics within major banking organisations.
I also hold a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and a Master’s degree in Business Economics and Finance, giving me a strong quantitative and analytical foundation.
I aim to create a positive and supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. I believe students learn best when they understand the reasoning behind a mathematical method rather than simply memorising steps.
One of the most rewarding parts of tutoring is seeing a student who once said, “I can’t do this,” begin to approach problems with confidence and independence.
My professional career has also shown me how valuable mathematical and analytical thinking can be beyond the classroom. I enjoy helping students recognise that the skills they develop through maths—such as logical thinking, problem-solving and persistence—can be valuable throughout their education and future careers.
Outside of tutoring and work, I enjoy travelling, staying active and spending time with friends and family.

Does your child struggle with maths, lack confidence, or simply need some extra support to reach their potential?
I help KS2, KS3 and GCSE students build a strong understanding of maths, improve their confidence and develop the problem-solving skills they need to succeed in exams.
My approach goes beyond memorising formulas and procedures. I focus on helping students understand how and why a method works, so they can apply their knowledge confidently to unfamiliar problems.
Every student starts with an initial assessment to establish their current level, identify strengths and pinpoint areas for improvement. I then create a personalised learning plan based on their needs, pace and academic goals.
Lessons typically include:
* Clear, step-by-step explanations of challenging concepts
* Targeted practice based on areas for improvement
* Exam technique and exam-style questions
* Regular progress reviews
* Personalised feedback and practice questions after lessons
I also offer a free 30-minute introductory session, giving us an opportunity to discuss your child’s current level, goals and any areas they may be finding challenging, and to see how I can best support their progress.
