About Stephen
✸ I am a 37 year-old private tutor of A level Maths & Further Maths and mathematical concepts of Engineering and University entrance exams including the UCAT and Oxbridge Admissions Tests with over 15 years experience. I am both a Mechanics and Statistics specialist and have supplementary sideline specialisms tutoring applicants to Medicine and Dentistry courses and those students intending to sit the Oxbridge Maths and Physics Admissions Tests and the Cambridge STEP and TMUA.
✸ I also work for 3 major exam boards as a question writer, principal moderator and content editor for their education publications (textbooks, revision aids, specimen exam materials, etc.)
✸ I teach in a relaxed, friendly and encouraging atmosphere. Many of my current and former students/parents are also more than willing to provide references for those wishing to acquire further information prior to organising any tuition arrangements.
✸ Aside from teaching, I play badminton competitively (the best sport!) also play the piano - I used to teach this too but definitely prefer maths and the college-age group..!

✸ I work very closely with a number of major exam boards as a Principal Exam Moderator question-writing for A level Maths and Further Maths exams alongside further moderation work marking exam scripts (A level Maths and Further Maths) and question-setting for the UCAT, MAT & TMUA and various other content publications (textbooks) and also for IQ assessment providers.
✸ I have collaborated with a catalogue of education publications and created a library of privately owned Mechanics, Statistics and Pure papers designed specifically to push students beyond the general scope.
✸ I can help greatly with exam technique and provide excellent advice on how to reach exam success from an examiner’s viewpoint.
✸ Year-on-year the majority of my student register typically comprises high-ability students, mostly applying to study Medicine, Dentistry, Maths, Physics, Engineering and Economics. I have a wealth of experience in these spheres and can offer this additional benefit to those prospective students. I do of course welcome all students studying for their Maths/Further Maths A-level(s), whatever they are hoping to do following that!
✸ I have taught from all of the AQA, Edexcel, OCR and OCR-MEI syllabuses within the English system, the French Baccalauréat and the International Baccalauréat - all comprising various mixes of Pure/Core, Statistics and Mechanics branches of Maths and Further Maths (I no longer teach Decision Maths). There are few individuals who can tutor this wide spectrum of qualification-experience and Mathematical subject knowledge & content - even fewer who can offer such further specialisation.
✸ I have tutored thousands of students both in-person and online for many years all over the country and beyond (including France, Germany, Hong Kong, USA and Singapore to name a few) and have successfully seen all of these go off to top Colleges/Universities to pursue their first-choice courses/plans, many typically including top-ranked institutions from Oxbridge and Imperial to the Ivy League.
✸ I am a very encouraging teacher and like to create a relaxed, `two-way`, convivial environment in which to teach - that in which students learn most effectively. I strongly believe that there needs to be a good rapport between tutor and tutee to establish an effective working relationship.
✸ I adapt my teaching style to suit the personality and ability of individual students - all benefit greatly from a tailored/bespoke, differentiated approach to individual learning.
✸ I continually assess my students by having them reiterate and explain the steps they are taking towards reaching answers. This technique deepens the student's understanding of the method and solidifies their memory of the procedures/techniques required, and inspires confidence in their ability to use said skills in their exams.
✸ I have an excellent record of top tier results from students and maintain all my students year after year until their studies are complete.
