About Abeer

Hello there! I am Abeer, graduated from University of Science and Technology at Zewail City. I took maths courses such as calculus I and II, linear algebra, and ODE. I have always used to help explaining different subjects to my colleagues and friends. So, after graduation, I started teaching as I love spreading knowledge and science. Most of my students are high schoolers, mid schoolers and first-year college students. I enjoy helping them bridge the gap between textbook theory and practical science.

  • When did your interest begin?

Since I was young, I've been drawn to education and learning for their own sake — it's what led me to university in the first place. I chose my field because it fed my curiosity more than anything else could. Even before that, I was the friend everyone turned to with questions, and I kept hearing the same thing: "You explain it simply, but you always get exactly what we're stuck on." After graduating, that pull toward helping people understand became something I wanted to do seriously.
  • Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

My strongest subjects are STEM-based: Chemistry (general, inorganic, analytical), Physics (general physics, electromagnetism, classical mechanics and dynamics), and Math (precalculus, calculus). I don't really rank subjects as "favorites" vs "less-favorites" — I find the real challenge is the same across all of them: making concepts accessible to students who weren't given a strong foundation early on, and I enjoy that challenge regardless of the topic.
  • Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

I've always been a reflective person, drawn to anyone with real depth of mind. But one figure who truly shaped how I think is the Islamic scholar and philosopher Abu Hamid Al-Ghazali — his insight left a lasting impression on me.
  • What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

Patience and mercy, first and foremost. A sense of duty to deliver information without bias. And strong moral grounding — honesty and integrity above all.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

In my first year of college, I had a biology professor — a neurologist by training — who genuinely cared about his students. I was sick at one point with a back injury, far from my family and only 18, and he personally advised me on how to take care of myself. At the end of the semester, he sent every student a personalized email and had the whole class photographed together as a keepsake. It's stayed with me as an example of what a teacher can be beyond the subject matter.
  • What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

Growing up, I didn't always fit the mold, which sometimes made things harder with teachers — something I've carried into how I try to treat my own students differently. Academically, Solid State Physics was difficult for me, not because the concepts were beyond me, but because I hadn't completed all the prerequisite courses before taking it.
  • Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

Learning itself is my real passion — and with that comes a responsibility to share what I know. What fascinates me most are questions about understanding humans and the universe.
  • What makes you a Superprof (besides answering these interview questions :-P)?

Having struggled with teachers myself as a student, combined with my own curiosity, I can genuinely relate to what students go through. I don't just explain what the textbook says — I help them understand why it matters and how it applies in real life. And I bring a lot of patience to that process.
