About Kitti

School can be hard, especially during COVID. So, I wanted to help ease the burden by supporting you where you may need it the most. My aim is to instil confidence in my students that they can tackle even the most daunting task and to show that with determination and little support, there is nothing they can't do. I am patient and friendly so there is no need to be shy! Having spent most of life in education, I am an open-minded individual who is able to empathise with my students regarding their struggles.

During the school term, I work as a tutor aiming to supplement school learning for pupils who may be struggling. I communicate with my students where they feel their weaknesses lie as well as conducting brief assessments so I best understand how I can help them. Following this, I create weekly lesson plans that aim to aid the students’ learning. I believe clear communication yields the best results. I take a more conversational approach where I do not lecture at my students, but rather involve and talk to them as I teach. This involves asking them questions about how they understood me as well as listening to their interpretation to what was taught. For example, I ask my students to explain to me, in their own words, the definitions I had given them. This allows them to apply the resources that I had given them and also allows me to assess their understanding of what they had been taught. I also value positive reinforcement. I find it important to not discourage my students, if they get an answer wrong and instead I focus on encouraging them to explain how they reached their conclusion and to discuss together where they went wrong. This breaking down of their ‘thought process’ allows me to understand where they misunderstood the explanation and helps me to better explain that area. It also builds foundation for the students’ to more readily accept constructive criticism in their work. This creates a channel for open communication which allows for a more constructive work environment. My students do not feel hesitant to ask for help and feel confident in answering question, even if they may not get the answer correct. This form of teamwork in communication I believe is vital. The typical length of my lesson is an hour. I have most experience tutoring GCSE and KS3 pupils
