About Debra
As a recent MA in Professional Communications graduate, I am keen to tutor and support students wishing to improve their critical thinking and written English communication skills at the university or college level. I have experience working with a variety of learning styles as a parent of four children (three of whom are now young adults; one of whom is high-functioning special needs) and offer learning opportunities and feedback that are constructive, creative, and compassionate.

I approach the learning process from a student-centred perspective. As a tutor, I can help prioritize the myriad tasks a post-secondary English student is juggling when it comes to reading, note-taking, summarizing, and the writing process. I can offer tools that may assist with proper essay and paragraph structure. I can be a sounding-board for ideas, arguments, and thesis statements. And, I can review draft essays and papers to provide both substantive and editing feedback.
