About Poonia

Hi! My name is Elvira, and I am a second-year Integrated Business and Humanities student at McMaster University. I have always loved working with children and enjoy helping them grow in both their confidence and academic abilities. As a former student in my high school's gifted program, I understand the importance of building strong learning foundations and adapting lessons to each child's unique needs.
I am patient, friendly, dependable, and approachable, and I strive to make every tutoring session both productive and enjoyable. I believe that children learn best when they feel supported and encouraged, so I create a positive environment where they feel comfortable asking questions and trying new things.
Outside of school, I enjoy reading, spending time with family and friends, staying active, and caring for my puppy. I look forward to helping your child develop stronger English skills while making learning fun, engaging, and rewarding.

About the lesson

My lessons are designed to be engaging, interactive, and tailored to each student's individual needs. Before beginning, I take the time to understand each child's current skill level, learning style, strengths, and areas for improvement. I then create personalized lesson plans that help students build confidence while working toward their academic goals.
I offer support in reading, writing, grammar, spelling, vocabulary, reading comprehension, and creative writing for students in Grades 1 to 8. Lessons include interactive activities, educational games, practice exercises, and age-appropriate learning strategies to make each session enjoyable and effective.
Tutoring sessions are held virtually and are 1.5 hours long. My rate is $25 per session, and the frequency of lessons is completely flexible and based on each family's preferences and the student's needs. Whether your child would benefit from weekly sessions, multiple sessions per week, or occasional extra support, I am happy to create a schedule that works best for you.
My goal is to create a positive and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, build confidence in their abilities, and develop a genuine love of learning while achieving academic success.
