About Aram

I always enjoyed learning about math and physics, but when I was a student, those subjects were the hardest for me. Because they were hard, I had to work extra hard to not only understand the concepts, but also perform well on tests. Needing extra help in those subjects makes me confident that I can teach them because I had to put in the extra effort, just like my students are. With my hard work, I have completed a mechanical engineering degree, and my students feel confident that they can succeed in difficult things too.

Music, on the other hand, came very naturally to me. I've held many leadership positions in band settings, and I have recently taken my own private lessons that have improved my musicality. I have strengthened the bands I have been in with how I lead them. I love music, and any chance I have to share that love with others, especially other musicians, is not something I take lightly. My students work hard and have fun with it.

I love getting to know students' personal strengths and tailoring each session to what they need. Meeting my students where they are and helping to improve is my philosophy.
For a math or physics lesson, the student should prepare homework or test problems they are struggling with, and I will work them through the problems, going over points of confusion in more detail. If there are no current struggles, I will prepare a problem sheet for us to work through together, and I'll only step in if they are unsure of what to do next.
In a music lesson, my 12 years of clarinet experience and general music education will guide developing the musicality of the student's performance. We will focus on school band music, or I will suggest a solo piece for the student to learn.
