About Miguel

Hi there! I’m Miguel and I’ve always had a lifelong passion for math, science, and stretching my brain in creative and academic ways. I’ve always been fascinated by understanding how things work, which is what led me to pursue degrees in two STEM fields and spend years helping other students navigate challenging subjects. As someone who has spent countless hours studying, solving problems, preparing for exams, and working through difficult concepts, I understand firsthand how frustrating math can sometimes feel. I also know how rewarding it is when a topic finally clicks. That’s one of the reasons I enjoy tutoring so much! To help students reach those “aha!” moments. Outside of academics, I’m a fan of movies, video games, comics, and other nerdy hobbies, so I enjoy connecting with students on a personal level and creating a relaxed, encouraging learning environment. I believe learning works best when students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and actively engaging with the material knowing that I am human just like them and someone they can connect with. I’m excited to be part of your math journey!

About the lesson

As a Mechanical Engineering and Physics graduate with several years of tutoring experience, I believe that every student can succeed in math with the right guidance and support. My teaching approach focuses on building understanding rather than memorization. I break complex concepts into manageable steps, encourage questions, and adapt my explanations to fit each student’s learning style. A typical lesson begins by identifying the student’s goals and any areas of difficulty. From there, we review key concepts, work through examples together, and practice solving problems independently to reinforce understanding. I also provide strategies for approaching new problems so students can build confidence and become more independent learners. What sets me apart is my combination of strong STEM knowledge and a patient, personalized teaching style. I understand that students learn at different paces, and I strive to create a supportive environment where they feel comfortable making mistakes and asking questions. My lessons are designed for middle school through college students studying mathematics and physics, including subjects such as arithmetic, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, pre-calculus, calculus, and introductory physics. Whether a student needs help with homework, test preparation, strengthening foundational skills, or tackling advanced coursework, I tailor each session to their individual needs and goals.
