About Flora
Hello, my name is Flora. I am currently studying to become a doctor and of course have sat many exams myself over the years. I am passionate about tutoring because I love teaching and would like to in some way inspire others to enjoy science the way I do. While exams are a necessary part of this learning, I believe that the best results come from having an appreciation as well as an understanding of a particular subject. This has been even more apparent to me in my time at medical school. As well as academics, I love music and play the cello, piano and accordion (which I have previously taught). I also love to cook and bake and when I have time, to read as well. I am committed to providing well thought-out, engaging sessions and would like students to finish sessions feeling more confident about and excited in their subject.

I aim to develop a clear understanding of the subjects I teach through tailoring sessions to each student’s needs and learning preferences. I will do this through finding multiple approaches to difficult topics and relating content to real life situations. I believe that practice is very important, so will make use of exam-style questions as an important part of the learning process. As well as this, I encourage students to experiment with different and even creative ways of learning and memorising. I find this helps to make large quantities of information more accessible to understand and memorise, as well as keeping the enthusiasm for these subjects alive! As I am still a student myself, the different difficulties of learning are still very relevant to me. I believe this helps me in my approach to teaching others. I provide lessons for students working towards GCSE and A level (ages 13-18). Depending on age, I recommend 45 minutes to 1 hour sessions.
