About Gargi

Hello! My name is Gargi and I am a first year medical student. I tutor Biology and Chemistry for students of all levels from primary school to A-level.

One of my main priorities is to create a positive, fun and comfortable environment for every student so that they leave each lesson feeling more confident in their own abilities. I also hope this will allow students to voice any concerns and questions they have as there is no such thing as a silly question!

Another priority of mine is to tailor teaching methods, resources and lessons to each individual to ensure every student gets the most from each lesson. I realised the importance of having your own unique learning process in school and therefore hope to also help students find this for themselves as it can make a world of difference for an individual and their progress.

I hope to use my own academic experiences that led me to achieve the top grades in A-level and GCSE, to help students who may be struggling or may just want some extra clarity on a topic so that more students will have a positive experience learning STEM subjects.

About the lesson

The process I use in each lesson starts with listening to the student’s concerns which will guide the selection of learning objectives. After identifying these, I will aim to simplify complex concepts and ensure the student’s understanding of a topic. From my own experience, active recall is essential to a complete and coherent understanding so this will be emphasised using flashcards, blurting, questions and small quizzes.

I also aim to create a positive and supportive environment for the student to ensure they feel free to voice their views and also feel confident in their own abilities as having the right mindset is so important!

A typical length of a lesson will be an hour however this is flexible and can be tailored to individual preferences.

Having achieved 3 A* in my A-levels (including Biology and Chemistry) recently, I feel qualified to help students work towards these top grades and ensure that they not only feel confident with the harder topics but also have an effective exam technique. I also have experience in helping GCSE students with complex biology concepts and have received positive feedback from these sessions.

My lessons can be tailored to all levels and ages.
