About Anna
I have taught for 30 years ages 3-adult in almost every subject. I have a love for literature, grammar, writing, and vocabulary development. Have unique, but inspiring ways to learn math and science. Social studies and geography are but a great tour of our vast world both past and present. Express your views while learning and absorb more than you ever imagined with me! I have a BA from Wake Forest University and an AG Certificate from NC State. I have been fluent in French and ASL. I have gained great experience from teaching 30 years with students who have learning challenges, add, autism, physical challenges, and more. I can do solos or work with an orchestra. My love in life is teaching individuals to have life skills. Be it swimming or reading, learning is a life-long event. Sometimes we are frustrated, but don't ever throw in the towel. I will do all I can to help you become your best, put forth your best, and be your very best.

My teaching methodology is multi-faceted. I use many tools as there are as many types of learners. Some people are auditory learners, whereas many need a tactile experiential lesson. Often I guide learners on the side rather than be a sage on the stage. Lecture style learning is least effective, but most widely used. I teach students how to learn from various methods when they have no control over how the lessons are given. Boring as some lessons are, a learner must be active, involved, and productive in making the lesson one they take in and make part of their knowledge. Learn neumatic devices for memorization if that helps. Apply higher thinking skills for evaluation purposes. Teach what you know. Let your personality come through as a chef would with their 5 course meal. Don't forget to season and decorate with taste. Dramatic sometimes we may be, the lessons learned build one upon the other. Then we have a masterpiece! Connect ideas and concepts if possible. Relate ideas as if you were building a huge skyscraper. Remembering that what you learn must last a lifetime.
