About Mireille

I am an experienced Tutor (10+ years) specializing in Standardized Test Prep (SAT and ACT), General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, English, Reading Comprehension, and “how to take a test”. I tutor more than 10,000 hours per year, indicating that families typically hire me over long periods of time. Previously, I worked as an English instructor at the college level and I was a Graduate Teaching Assistant in an Applied Mixed Methods Research course at Boston University, in addition to a profession in management and research consulting. I also have more than 10 years of experience in customer service, which has helped tremendously in tutoring students and helping families navigate their child(ren) towards higher grades/scores.

Parents often hire me to help students with a combination of services like Standardized Test Prep (SAT and ACT), end of year standardized exams (state requirement), homework assistance, and overall grade/GPA improvement. I also provide soft College Admissions Consulting services to help families strategically plan, in advance, their child’s college entrance. Families often hire me to follow their child through the academic school year to help the student overcome any academic challenges they have in their coursework to maintain their GPA and prepare them for College Entrance Exams (SAT and ACT).

I pride myself in the work I do. In addition to helping the student with their immediate needs (homework help, SAT or ACT prep, class test prep, etc), my goal is to always help the student improve their critical thinking skills and problem solving skills, which is a lifelong asset. I not only teach the student to learn the material, but I teach them how to think critically so they improve their overall academic performance. I am very flexible and I maintain an open door policy where the student can contact me at any time for assistance.

Additionally, I think of myself as a boutique tutor, meaning that I tutor a certain number of students at a time, so that the quality of my teaching is not compromised.

I am a passionate educator that believes in a holistic approach to helping students reach their academic goals. Over the course of my career, I have helped students significantly improve their school grades, prepared them for standardized testing, consulted on successful college applications, and helped them earn competitive scholarships.

Additionally, I focus on boosting each student's confidence, actively working to strengthen their critical thinking skills to become better problem solvers, and help them realize their full academic potential.

******SAT and ACT Test Prep******
I love helping student achieve their goals! The general plan starts with:

1. An evaluation (if needed)
2. Customary Google Class with test prep materials
3. One-on-One live tutoring sessions on Zoom using official exams.
4. Test prep assignments posted in the google class after each session
Then I customize the test prep plan based on the student's learning style, schedule, and availability

During each live SAT or ACT session we do the following:

1. Score homework session
2. Review each incorrect question and discuss what contributed to the wrong answer
3. Strategy review and performance improvement discussion
4. Drills and practice (if time permits)
5. Homework assigned in Google classroom

******Chemistry Tutoring*******

There are two ways I helps students reach their Chemistry goals:

1) Session based homework help, test review, or material review: Students will schedule either on an as need basis or regularly 1-3 times per week and we go over any questions/assignments they have to improve their Chemistry grade
2) Honors and AP Chemistry Prep – Students will work with me for a period of time prior to starting an advance Chemistry class.
a. Student receives a copy of a syllabus, AP Chemistry textbook, and reference materials
b. Student receives a customary Google Class where assignments and grades are posted

*******College Admissions Counseling*******

1) Customized school list using Google sheets
2) One-on-one live session strategic planning and application updates
3) If needed, personal assistance with filling out application, requesting transcripts, asking for letters of recommendation, etc
4) Letter of recommendation request planning and letter template provided
5) Assistance with short and long essay
a. Brainstorming session
b. Topic discussion
c. Edits

*******Writing and Editing Services*******

1) Email me the document (I will provide an email address upon contact)
2) 24-48 hour turn around time for papers that are less than 2,000 words
